Asymmetric CycleGANs for inverse design of photonic metastructures

The design of photonic nanostructures is often a unstructured task completed through rough estimates. The exact solution requires solving partial differential equations that have no guarentee of a unique solution. We present a method to estimate structural shapes from a photoluminescent spectrum through the use of asymmetric cycle consistent generative adversarial networks.

Synthetic Sonar Image Generation using a DFCVAE

Obtaining training data for underwater autonomous vehicles is a difficult task. Conversely, simulating sonar images using tools like the Unity Software Engine is unrealistic and provides unrealistic results. Here we present a method to synthetically generate this data based on ground truth sonar images using a Deep Feature Conditioned Variational Autoencoder.
